With it being Black History Month, I wanted to bring an interesting fact to y'all... Did you know that Cornrows (aka Canerows - in ref to the Sugarcane fields), were used to help slaves escape from their owners? Slaves used this hair style to transfer information and create maps to the North. The style of curved braids would symbolise the route and roads they would have to take. They also hid gold and seeds in the hair to help them survive once they had escaped. Such hair styles were developed so that the slave owners wouldn't get suspicious.
In light of celebrating all that is black (#blackhistory), the first hour is Afrobeat / Afro-house (it just evolved that way).
