Welcome to the Coffee and Your Health series of the Roast and Reason podcast! Is coffee good for you or does it cause health problems? Historically coffee was thought to increase the risk of high blood pressure and thus heart disease and stroke. Turns out these beliefs arose from the effect of caffeine on blood pressure, not coffee in general. New and better research on coffee and health paints a very different picture.

In this episode we will cover the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of compounds in coffee and why that is so important to our health. Then we will cover the most cutting edge research and the findings that coffee is actually associated with decreased heart disease, diabetes, and even death.
