In this episode, we interviewed Heather and Phil Joel, founders of deliberateKids and deliberatePeople ministries. Phil is best known as being apart of the Christian rock band, Newsboys and most recently forming the band, Zealand Worship. Phil and Heather share the importance of prayer and how focusing on reading the Bible daily increased their intimacy and walk with God, thus deepening their marriage relationship. Another aspect touched on in this episode is the importance of putting God and family first. This led Phil to the ultimate choice to resign as the bassist for the popular band, Newsboys at the height of his career. Together they began focusing on serving the local community and building ministries such as deliberatePeople and deliberateKids with the intention of pairing worship music with a devotional, games and activities that bring the family together. A powerful message they share from their personal journey is that material possessions and personal success are fulfilling, however letting the Lord into every aspect of their life was even more important and lead to a greater fullness and joy, one only that God can bring. Phil and Heather share the impact of social media has on our culture and the intentional use of limiting it in their life and how they have thrived with cultivating a life set around family, God and music.
