Manage episode 206476351 series 2314427
Today’s veterinary medical students are trained not only to care for animal patients, but also to consider the business aspects of going into private practice. From contract negotiations to how to set and manage fees to marketing and even managing student loan debt, an understanding of these aspects can better equip students to enter the real world after graduation from veterinary school. Dr. Martha Mallicote, coordinator of a unique business certificate program at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, and veterinary student Cynthia Kathir, who recently won a national business-oriented competition, will team up to provide an overview of this program and how it’s linked to the national issue of offsetting student debt.
