In this episode, Sam Zhang, a photographer based in LA, shares her journey into photography and how she found her own style. She started taking pictures at a young age to capture memories and later studied photography in school. Sam worked as a portrait and wedding photographer for a few years, trying to please clients and follow trends.

However, she realized that she had lost her own artistic vision and decided to take a break from paid photography. Sam now focuses on shooting for fun and learning, rediscovering her love for photography.

Sam started her YouTube channel to practice her English and develop logical thinking skills. She enjoys the process of making videos and the sense of completion it brings. However, she struggles with balancing her passion for photography and filmmaking. Sam wants to create high-quality videos but also wants to have enough time to take photos. She finds it challenging to shoot both for videos and for personal projects. Sam is working on finding a balance between shooting for videos and shooting without a camera rolling.

In this final part of the conversation, the hosts ask Sam about her biggest portrait photography inspirations and her dream camera. Sam mentions photographers like Tim Walker, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, and Hiroshi Sugimoto as his inspirations. She also talks about the Pentax 6x7 as his current favorite camera and the Mamiya RZ67 as a camera she would like to try in the future.
