Online scams - from romance to inheritance, prize-winning to extortion - capture billions to fund terrorists. You may be aware that annoying emails that promise you love or money, or to keep your pornography-watching a secret, are scams. And maybe you suspect facebook friend requests from a handsome military man or a sexy lady are bogus. But, did you know that they likely came from terrorist sympathizers or terrorists, themselves? Yes, terrorists are into white collar crime in a big way-and growing fat on these online scams! Just recently, an online scam, run by two Nigerians located in Los Angeles, was busted by U.S. prosecutors, who are rounding up this international ring, after they made millions. Most of these online scams are perpetrated by Nigerians-though there is controversy as to whether they’re the ones funneling most of the money to terrorists or whether terrorists are simply copying their proven strategies. Hear real stories of unsuspecting, trusting people who were targeted by scammers, who looked for certain words in their social media profiles or found them by other means, until they were seduced into handing over their life savings. Stories of women falling for men who convinced them they were madly in love and needed to borrow money so they could visit or for other sympathetic reasons, or a man who was told the money he’d sent had inadvertently funded a terror attack, so he was wanted for murder and needed to send more money so the authorities could capture the terrorists, and more….
