Victor Sebestyen escaped from Hungary with his family in 1956. He is the author of many books dealing with the history of Eastern Europe and Russia. Matty K talked with Victor about history and how it relates to the present: why Putin sees it as his right to take Ukraine, why people gravitate to authoritarian rulers, and the role of nostalgia, sometimes toxic nostalgia, in politics. Enjoy!
