羽田さんは、高校３年で作家デビューしてから１２年。
先日、４度目のノミネートで、第１５３回芥川賞を受賞して、
同時受賞の又吉直樹さんとともに、いま大きな注目を浴びる２９歳です。
受賞作「スクラップ・アンド・ビルド」は、
年老いた祖父と、その祖父を介護する青年健斗の物語。
「死にたい」が口癖の祖父を疎ましく思う健斗は、
祖父を安らかに死なせるため、ある計画を実行します。
そこに描かれるのは、衝動に駆られ、極端な行動に走る主人公の姿です。
未来授業２時間目、テーマは『極論を疑え』

2003年、高校３年のとき、小説「黒冷水」で第40回文藝賞を受賞して作家デビュー。
2008年、「走ル」が第139回芥川賞候補作に、
2010年、「ミート・ザ・ビート」が第142回芥川賞候補作となる。
2015年、小説「スクラップ・アンド・ビルド」で第１５３回芥川賞を受賞。
