In this episode I speak with Greg Wieting. Greg helps people deal with and overcome anxiety, depression and chronic pain. Greg has developed his framework using neuroscience, mindfulness/somatic practices and energy work. Greg tells us how trauma stays in our body and how it can manifest itself anxiety, depression and chronic pain.

Greg explains how a trauma response occurs in our body to protect us but how they can keep firing after the danger is gone and cause us a lot of suffering. He explains the importance of mindfulness and somatic practices to heal your trauma responses so they work for you rather than against you. Greg tells us how our bodies have an innate wisdom that heals itself and his job is just creating a climate to allow that understanding to come back online.

Greg tells us how when we have mental illness and pain for so long we end up identifying with our mental illness or pain and the strategies we use to escape those things. He shares how a mindfulness practice can really help us ease that identification. Greg also shares how now there’s tons of medical doctors dealing with patients more holistically because they realize the value in treating more than just the symptoms.
