On Friday 26th November 1928, Officers of the Bath Police Force went to a shop at No. 3, Monmouth Street after they received a message from the London Police. They forced the door, and started searching the premises. Soon, they found the body of Mrs. Bartlett, a young woman of 23, lying on the bed with her head battered. What exactly led up to the grisly death of this new bride and what became of her husband?
