Get ready to swoon. This week we get a real treat. Firstly: He's Irish. Secondly: He's a history buff (Spellcheck is currently hyperventilating). Our guest is a multi-generational jeweler with a great grandfather who was hired by the Irish government to recover the stolen Irish crown jewels. Spoiler: They were never found. His other great grandfather was the accountant for Michael Collins during the irish revolution and subsequent civil war. If you aren't sure who Collins is, pause this recording to go do your research. Matthew Weldon is a jeweler by trade but a collector by heart; antique jewelry runs in his veins. With a personal family history steeped in literal treasure and the pedigree to match, his collection is a thing to behold. Hear about Matthew's travels to antique shows, the feeling of an amazing find, and the subsequent mini party we all have in our car. Unless you're Jill, then you silently, aloofly bask in it. May we all one day be as cool and calm as Jill is.
