The Ms. McBookworm podcast is a place for Christian women who write fiction to share their stories in audio form and ultimately to tell God's bigger story through our smaller ones.

Season Eight: Faster by Jere Steele

Each episode of Season Eight will be a chapter of Faster, my second novel. The episodes will release all at once in case you want to listen all the way through like an audiobook. And if you'd like to actually read the ebook, here's the link:

If you've just stumbled on this, here's a quick summary of what Faster is about.

Jamie Romans is a journalism professor who has come back to her small Alabama hometown to take care of her dying father. Webb Brock, Jamie's childhood best friend, is recently widowed and completely consumed with guilt over his wife's death and his long-time feelings for Jamie. They reconnect over a mutual love of running, and the novel explores themes of redemption and community.

Also factoring in the story is Webb's feisty and funny mother, Libby, who runs a rogue ladies' Bible study. If you've read or listened to Sweeter, you'll hear a few familiar characters from it as well.

This is a Christian romance novel, so it is a clean romance. However, there is a fairly intense romantic scene in chapter eight. In this intro episode, I explain my reasons for leaving it in, but if you really dislike those types of scenes, you might want to jump ahead at that part in chapter eight.

This is actually a great example of another theme in the book: how Christians can disagree well on secondary issues. I hope you enjoy listening (or reading) as much as I enjoyed writing and recording it.
