Welcome to the Perilous Pretenders, an actual play podcast featuring mostly lesser known role playing games; the podcast is hosted by a nerdy and artistic husband and wife team, Kristy and Kerry Cutsforth. This is the second episode in, what we like to call, a "mini campaign" of the tabletop role playing game, Bubblegumshoe. Bubblegumshoe is a teen mystery solving game featuring the genre of high school noir, which can be found in many different movies, books, and tv shoes: Nancy Drew (books), Hardy Boy (books), Veronica Mars (TV), Stranger Things (TV), The Goonies (Movie), IT by Stephen King (book), Donnie Darko (movie), Riverdale (TV) and Twin Peaks (TV). Our game is set in a small town in Maine called Brewster Hills. The teens in this adventure all know each other from their D&D group. One of their group members has been missing for a few days and the police are not taking it seriously since she's run off before with a boy. Her sister Circe DeRaven (their DM), is worried about her and the gang sets off to figure out what happened to her.
