Bill Miller, Scott Brooks and Larry Manning join Sports ‘N Torts for a special episode on youth sports and coaching. These 3 have coached youth baseball at Fullers Park in East Cobb, Marietta, GA for the last decade – if you know anything about baseball in East Cobb you know its serious and for coaches to last a decade with the same group of boys you know they are doing something right.

Affectionally, known to us with boys on their team as “Coach Bill, Scott, and Larry”, these 3 have been coaching may of our boys since they were 5 years old all the way leading up to our trip to Cooperstown this summer. Hear how Bill and Larry came together after the 5U season and how Scott joined the group prior to 9U season. More importantly, the three give their perspectives on coaching youth baseball and what works. The three came in with philosophies on coaching styles, roster management, pitching rules/limitations, batting order construction and putting the families and boys first. What resulted with as incredible run of success both on and off the field. Not bad for a team made up of players from literally a 3 miles radius.

The highlight of the team was the recent trip to Cooperstown, NY for the 12U Cooperstown Field of Dreams tournament where 100+ teams from all across the country came together in a tournament that celebrated youth baseball and all that is good about the sport. Many of you followed our teams tournament results on Facebook and on this podcast. Hear about the tournament from the coaches perspectives - the barracks, the food halls, the showers, the sleeping arrangements, the memories, the takeaways, the wins and the walk offs.
