I Sat down with my Fijian son Jone Naisoro to talk about the rise of the Westside Ronins rugby team. We had a great talk about the glory days of my ending career in rugby, playing with my buddies in the last days of my functioning body. How Jone was inspired by Sig Kohl, in which it led him to start a tournament every year named the "Siggy 7's". As true as Fijians as we are, we came up with this idea around a Kava session. The idea was for us to play together again like we did at Fiji day, because we had so much fun and we had great chemistry. What drove us to carry on was our friendship/brotherhood, and we were all passionate about one sport, rugby. So our main goal was to create a team in which our friends could all play in..

The Ronins name comes from the meaning of being a warrior with no master, which they felt was them as they had no coach and sometimes no money for entrance fees or even uniforms, but they did have the talent to compete. Since they have made it to USA rugby nationals and have competed well, finishing 2nd in the last season and the goal this year to bring home the title back to a Seattle team.

They are fundraising to raise funds for the travel costs of going to Nationals, as they are a full 501c3 non-profit and have a gofundme.com set up under the Westside Ronins 7's. The club is also available to do work in exchange for donation to their club, so should you need some help with projects feel free to reach out to jonenaisoro2@gmail.com.

I hope you get a kick out of some of the stories we shared and have the kindness to reach in your pocket and give a donation of any size to help the boys out to meet their financial needs for travel.

Thanks as always and look for my 1st episode that was never published but will be next week.

Cheers,
