Pioneers of Country October 14, 2012 Another great Pioneers of Country broadcast topped off with a top 10 countdown during the second hour. We begin with Hank Williams - Settin' the Woods on Fire. Dave opens the program and welcomes all listeners. Next is True Life Country Music by Razzy Bailey. Dave gives some info on Razzy Baily. Dave buys a Pumpkin bigger than his Grandson and plans to carve it soon. Dave plays Cal Smith's Country Bumpkin. Dave addresses e-mails from his listeners regarding similar lyrics. Moe Bandy sings “I Just Started Hating Cheating Songs Today” followed by “Honky Tonk Man” by Dwight Yoakam. Dave tries to explain how to get access to International Relay Chat. Eddy Arnold sings “The cattle are prowlin' The coyotes are howlin' way out where the doggies roam. AKA: “The Cattle Call.” Dave greets some regular listeners and then we hear Flatt & Scruggs - “Like a Rolling Stone” done in bluegrass style. It was a major hit by Bob Dylan in 1965. Dave reminds listeners that he will play the top 10 songs on the playlist at the top of the hour. Dave reads “Today in History”. Next is Lefty Frizzell - “Don't Think It Ain't Been Fun Dear” from 1950. Up next “Mr. Do-It-Yourself” a Single by Jean Shepard & Ray Pillow. Released in 1966 on Capitol records. "Mister Garfield" is a song about the assassination of U.S. President James A. Garfield by Charles Guiteau at the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad Station in Washington on July 2, 1881. That's the first 45 minutes, 78 minutes to go with the Top Ten in 15 minutes. Special Note: Most of the E-Mail, chat room, and web sites mentioned no longer exist.
