First, the plaintiff says the defendant is her neighbor and he agreed to split the cost of a fence with her. She claims he reneged on the deal, so she’s suing him for what she’s owed. The defendant says he agreed to share the cost of a vinyl fence and paid for it, but the plaintiff put up a more expensive block wall, which he can’t afford. He claims she’s the one who broke the deal. He’s countersuing because the plaintiff used an unlicensed installer and his side looks terrible.

Then, the plaintiff says the defendants gave him two cats and then stole one of them back right off the street. He says his kids love the cat, so he’s suing for the return of his pet or $500. The defendants say the cat is theirs and has always been. They’re countersuing for emotional distress.
