Jason and Greg sit down with Homicide detective Dave Sweet

Dave Sweet is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In 1998, Dave began his career in law enforcement - following in the footsteps of a Grandfather he never knew (a former NYPD police officer between 1904-1914).

Now a retired 25 year veteran of the Calgary Police Service, Dave has accumulated over 20 years of specialized investigative experience in the areas of drugs, guns, gangs, organized crime, missing persons and homicide.

Dave possesses and in-depth and comprehensive understanding of risk management models, managing and leading major cases, current law enforcement standards and practices and the criminal justice system.

Apart from his investigative experiences, for the past decade, Dave has supported a local mystery theatre company with an audience talk back segment known as "Forensic Fridays" and has consulted on numerous writing projects with Canadian authors. Dave's first book (a true crime memoir) "Skeletons in My Closet - 101 Life Lessons from a Homicide Detective" was republished by Stark Publishing in 2023 and highlights the life lessons a career in law enforcement can afford. Dave's second book "Undaunted" was published in July of 2024...

Over the years, several of Dave's cases, have been featured in documentaries and podcast series that he has worked on including CBC's The Detectives, Corus Entertainment's Crime Beat, Delta Police Services Bend Don't Break, Investigative Discoveries Murder Board [Murder Wall] and the popular Netflix series Unsolved Mysteries.

Recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 2010 and 2018, the Chief's Award for Investigative Excellence in 2017, the Governor Generals Exemplarily Service Medal in 2021, and the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022, Dave is a proud and accomplished investigator who has been involved in some of Canada's most heinous cases.
