With a mathematician for a father, who named her Sigma after the Greek alphabet, Sigma's unique name was a precursor to her distinctive path in life. Despite the challenges of having a name that stood out, Sigma's early interest in engineering and biology set the stage for her future endeavors.
After her family immigrated to the U.S., Sigma pursued her passion for science, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her PhD in chemical engineering from Northwestern University. Her academic excellence catapulted her into a career that included significant roles at Eli Lilly and Fujifilm Diosynth before she found her calling at KBI Biopharma.
