The No Surprises Act has had some difficulties in the implementation process, and those difficulties are raising issues.

In episode 12 of Complications: Health Policy Unraveled, host Stephanie Kennan provides an update on the No Surprises Act, a law passed by Congress in December 2020 to protect patients from excessive surprise medical bills. The law partially went into effect in the beginning of 2022 for those in individual and group health plans. Stephanie discusses the challenges and issues faced during its implementation, including legal battles, concerns about the arbitration process, and the impact on small medical practices. The debate over including ground ambulances in the legislation is also covered.
