Rémi rejoint Jamie en studio pour échanger sur sa pratique ainsi que sur ses passions, dont la musique et l’histoire acadiennes. Depuis 2018, l’artiste déploie la présence de Joan Dularge, figure « manquante » de l’histoire du rock politique acadien des années 1960 et 1970, qui lui permet d’affirmer la présence du chiac et de la culture queer en Acadie. Rémi se confie sur son identité et sa relation à sa propre féminité.

« Il y a un lien métaphorique entre l’histoire acadienne depuis la Déportation et ma gender expression où, dans ma vie, j’ai dû un peu forcer ma féminité à s'en aller ; elle a erré pendant des années jusqu'à tant que je lui donne la permission de revenir. »

Rémi joins Jamie in the studio to chat about their practice and their passions, including Acadian music and history. Since 2018, Rémi has been performing as an alter ego, Joan Dularge, a “missing” figure from the history of Acadian political rock of the 1960s and 1970s, which has enabled them to assert the presence of Chiac and queer culture in Acadia. Rémi talks about their identity and their connection with their own femininity.

“There’s a metaphoric link between Acadian history since the Deportation and my gender expression, in that, in my life, I’ve kind of had to force my femininity to go away; it wandered for years until I gave it permission to come back.”
