Isaiah 6:1-8 describes Isaiah's vision of God on His throne, surrounded by seraphim declaring God's holiness. Overwhelmed by his sinfulness, Isaiah fears he is doomed. A seraph touches his lips with a coal from the altar, cleansing his sin. When God asks, "Whom shall I send?" Isaiah responds, "Here am I. Send me!" This passage marks Isaiah's calling as a prophet.
