This fact-filled episode is more than just a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the River District, a multi-faceted master planned community planned for west of the CLT Airport. During the conversation Rob guides his guest from the micro to the macro to the micro again. Because in the end it is the people and their talent that bring these large developments into fruition.

Guiding a large portion of that vision is our guest Fran West, PE, Director of Development, Special Projects for Crescent Communities. Responsible for leading development projects in the southeast, advancing the River District’s employment district, and assisting with strategy development and execution across the portfolio with economic development entities, municipalities, and commercial real estate partners, the BIG news is how she is ensuring that the Crescent Communities Commercial team is the partner of choice and trusted solution provider in the communities in which we work.

The most exciting element of the River District is the huge tennis complex being developed. Experts and Investors say the $400 million “Project Break Point” would offer more than 40 total tennis courts and an amphitheater for outdoor concerts and a pickleball venue. It includes four tennis stadiums with seating capacities that range from 2,000 seats to 14,000 seats, as well as numerous practice courts across 50 acres. In total, the project would have more than 40 total tennis courts and an amphitheater for outdoor concerts and a pickleball venue. Tournaments will span14 days and would have an economic impact of $275 million and would attract 350,000 people bringing $300 million and 650,000 visitors each year for various events and year- round operations.

Fran’s additional impact on Charlotte is significant. She is a member of both CREW Charlotte and ULI. She is actively involved with volunteering in her children’s school and sports communities. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and holds her professional engineering license in the state of North Carolina.

As you listen to her a passion for people, innovation, and collaboration a theme emerges. She is relentlessly guided by a set of work principles that place kindness, honesty, and character at the forefront of her efforts. Additionally you’ll hear a lot of laughter in this episode. Get ready to smile and chuckle as you follow Rob’s cadence of balancing the personal with the professional in this latest version of “Getting Real with Rob.”
