Welcome to today's episode of Queerly Popular! Today, we are going to talk about the 2021 book The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun. The book is about a contestant and a producer on a reality dating show who meet and fall in love. There is a lot of talk in the book about mental health issues including anxiety, OCD, and depression. There is also good representation of different sexualities. There are also a couple of characters who appear to be non-binary (both characters use "they" pronouns), but that is never specifically revealed.

So I talk about the plot, the characters, and my intense dislike of reality tv. I found the structure of the chapters to be particularly interesting. They were written from a 3rd person limited perspective. Listen for more on that.

I definitely recommend the book, it's fun, if predictable, and I appreciated how Alison talked about mental health so well.

Next week, we will talk about all three seasons of the show Young Royals.
