100 years ago today a non-event began to change the world

Well it wasn't really a non-event it's just that it was that the star player in the event didn't participate. Eric Liddell, often known as the Flying Scotsman was scheduled to participate in the 100 meter dash in the 1924 Olympics being held in Paris France.

However he refused to participate in the qualifying heat and forfeited his chance to be the gold medal winner. His stories are told in the award winning film Chariots of Fire. Today, July 6 marks 100 years to the day when that non-event happened but led to many other glorious and gracious and wonderful, and tragic events.

It was truly world changing in many respects and today I want to take seven minutes to tell you the story.
