“It's not always easy being my husband without sex,” says Phillip. “It's a tough job but Peter Estherson does it with dignity, grace, and a lot of patience.” Friends and friendship can be our most confusing relationships and often our most fun & rewarding, so choose your friends wisely. In Phillip’s case, it's usually a lifetime sentence, lol. Friends are the relationships in life where we have a choice, unlike family that we are born/stuck with. As we get older and begin to spread our wings, sometimes we mentally or spiritually outgrow our own families and we prefer our own choice of chosen friends we call family. Luckily for Phillip, his brother from another mother, one of his best friends, Pieter Esthersohn, is not someone who only nurtured his creative side but has always worked on his physical, mental, and spiritual well-being as well. Growing up with a supportive family and a mother who was an artist, Pieter traveled the world and expanded his perspective on art and beauty. At an early age, he began to immerse himself in the world of art by collecting photographs from such great classic photographers as Aveadon, Penn, Louise Dahl Wolf and many other well-known artists in his teenage years before landing the ultimate cool downtown art job working with Andy Warhol. Pieter worked at the factory by day and dancing the night away at discos like Studio 54 and Xenon where we found each other bumping and grinding on the dance floor one night in the late seventies. We haven't stopped dancing through the world of fashion and entertainment for more than five decades. With a world of mutual friends and a lifetime of worldly shared experiences together we often wonder where the time went. Well, we’re here to tell you Pieter has spent it creating countless luxurious fashion images for British Vogue and Italian Vogue. He has also spent time photographing the most exquisite palaces and places for the covers of the world’s most renowned interior & architectural design magazines like World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, Elle Décor. He has also worked on over 60 books, sits on countless boards for historical preservation, and single-handedly raising a 19-year-old human being with purpose, creativity, and a sense of pride and community, whom he calls his son Ellio. We hope you will join Pat and Phillip for this Fashion and Passion segment. It is truly a journey of friendship and creativity that spans the world and throughout the world of fashion & the arts for more than five decades. Phillip knows Pieter’s story will change your life and inspire you as he does on a daily basis for him. True Crime, Fashion, and Passion is recorded and edited at DNR Studios in New York, NY. The podcast is hosted by Phillip Bloch, cohosted by Carol Alt and Pat Cleveland. Our Senior Producer is Annie Quaile. Illustrations created by Antonio Contreras.
