How can a positive, forward-thinking mindset help overcome career challenges and achieve success?

Today, I’m thrilled to be here with my friend and colleague, the remarkable Karla Lewis. We'll dive into the story of how Carla became the passionate and driven sales leadership coach she is today at Southwestern, and the powerful thinking that has shaped her journey.

Karla’s purpose is to be a positive difference maker, a mission she has pursued throughout her diverse career in sales. From running her own clothing store to selling various services, Carla's entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help others have always guided her.

As she recounts her journey, Karla shares the pivotal moment when she transitioned from running an online business directory to joining Southwestern.

Additionally, we’ll explore the concept of thinking that forwards us, and how embracing the power of "and" rather than "or" has been a game-changer for Karla.

Join us as we explore Karla’s journey, the principles she lives by, and how her faith and positive thinking have shaped her path to success.

Key takeaways from our conversation:

  • Cultivating thinking that matters involves planning in a logical state to guide you through emotional challenges.

  • Embracing the power of "and" rather than "or" helps in balancing priorities and staying aligned with your purpose.

  • Utilizing confidence anchors and positive thinking can propel you forward in achieving your goals.

  • Surrendering to God and having a plan for handling challenges can help maintain a positive mindset.

  • Planning ahead and making conscious decisions in advance can lead to a more intentional and successful approach to life.

She led her own companies to success, as well as counseled other businesses to improve in areas such as business development and sales, marketing, event production, customer service training, image, and branding. She has worked with business leaders to improve their leadership through better communication, better questions, working to create their own individual “Vision-Purpose-Mission” statements and then a company creed. Currently she is the only person at Southwestern Consulting to have earned the title of “Coach of the Year” twice.

Karla currently lives in rural northwest Ohio and spends a significant amount of time in Middle Tennessee. Together with her adventure-loving husband Brad, they have a grain farm operation in Ohio. Karla and Brad have found success as parents to two grown sons and two amazing daughters-in-law and grandparents to five incredible grandchildren.
