In this episode I speak with long time Durango local Terry Bacon, Phd. He is a novelist, poet, playwright and author of professional books. Before he became a full-time fiction writer he was an adjunct professor at the University of Utah, a consultant in a writing training firm and a co-founder of Lore International, a widely respected executive development firm. He also taught several college level courses at the Utah State Prison which he found to be a very gratifying experience. As an avid reader Terry has always been interested in literature even as early as the age of 9 when he began publishing a neighborhood newspaper. Now that he has retired from the corporate world he is able to spend much of his time doing what he is most passionate about, creating stories that captivate the reader and takes them on a journey leading them to consider the course of humanity. Last October in 2023 he published Storm Warning: A Sonny Marshall Thriller which is an exciting and thought provoking story exploring themes of justice and morality and he has already started working on the sequel Storm Damage. Sonny, the main character in the story has his own website where you can find out more about him at www.sonnymarshall.com. As Sonny takes it upon himself to solve a crime, he finds that as musician he can use elements of creating a song to piece together the information gathered to get answers. More recently Terry released The Cerulean Ark, a science fiction and fantasy novel involving the dynamics of trust and betrayal when two high school students discover an alien spaceship. He is also working on another project called The Bridges: A Play In Two Acts which requires a completely different style of writing using only dialogue. The ideas for all of these stories come very clearly through dreams that Terry has had. He enjoys writing and living in the mountains of Southwest Colorado with his wife Debra who is an accomplished artist and photographer. They have three children and eleven grandchildren. Terry’s books are available locally at Maria’s bookshop and to find out more about him and his books visit his website at www.terrybacon.com
