Welcome back to Simple Recipe Box with me, Ben Harper. Today, we're diving into a dish that's as delightful to the palate as it is simple to prepare: Fried Cauliflower. Not only is this a healthier alternative to traditional fried foods, but its crispy texture and burst of flavors will have everyone asking for more. So, grab your aprons, and let's get cooking!

First things first, let's talk about what you'll need. For the equipment, ensure you have a deep-fryer or a large pot, a thermometer to keep that oil temperature in check, some mixing bowls, and a whisk. These tools are your best friends in achieving that perfect golden crispiness.

Now, onto the ingredients. You'll need one large head of cauliflower, broken into florets, a cup of all-purpose flour – you can go gluten-free if that's your preference. For the seasonings: a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of black pepper, and a quarter teaspoon each of paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. These simple ingredients come together to create a flavor-packed coating for our cauliflower.

Let's start cooking. Preheat your oil to 375°F or 190°C. This high temperature is crucial for a crispy finish. While the oil heats, take a large bowl and whisk together your flour and seasonings. In another bowl, mix a quarter cup each of vegetable oil and water. This mixture will help our flour mix stick to the cauliflower.

Here’s the fun part: Dip each cauliflower floret into the flour mix, then into the oil-water mix, and back into the flour mix for a double coat. This double-dipping is our secret to an extra crispy texture.

Carefully place the coated florets into the hot oil. Remember, don't crowd the pot; we want each piece to have its space to crisp up beautifully. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes or until they're golden brown and irresistibly crispy.

Once fried, let them drain on a paper towel-lined plate. This step helps get rid of any excess oil, keeping our cauliflower light and crunchy.

And there you have it! Serve these golden delights hot and fresh. They're perfect with a dip like aioli or a spicy sriracha mayo, adding just the right amount of zing. Whether you're hosting a party or just spicing up your weeknight dinner, this fried cauliflower is sure to impress.

If you end up with leftovers, though I doubt you will, just store them in an airtight container in the fridge. They'll keep for up to three days. Reheat them in the oven at 350°F for about 5-7 minutes to bring back that fresh-out-of-the-fryer crispiness.

That's all for today’s episode. I hope you enjoy making and munching on this crispy, flavorful fried cauliflower as much as I do. Happy cooking, and see you next time on Simple Recipe Box!
