Psalm 139:13-14

English Standard Version

For you formed my inward parts;

you knitted me together in my mother's womb.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works;

my soul knows it very well.

New Living Translation

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body

and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

New International Version

For you created my inmost being;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

Action Steps

Reflect

  • On your unique identity as God's creation.
  • Journal about how you are fearfully and wonderfully made, considering the aspects of yourself that you might have struggled to accept.
  • Let Psalm 139 anchor your thoughts as you acknowledge God’s intentionality in forming you.

Engage:

  • Step out of your comfort zone and engage with someone who might feel like the oddball.
  • This could be a person in your church, neighbourhood, or workplace.
  • Offer them genuine affirmation and remind them of their value.
  • Initiate a conversation or do something kind to help them feel accepted and loved.

Pray

  1. Pray for individuals who feel like they do not belong, that they may find communities that embrace and affirm their uniqueness.
  2. Pray for societal transformation, asking God to dismantle prejudices and biases, opening hearts to true inclusivity and love.
  3. Pray for personal transformation, asking God to reveal any areas in your own heart where you might harbour prejudice or exclusion and to fill you with his love and acceptance for all people.
