Passage

Psalm 34:17-19

ESV (English Standard Version)

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

NLT (New Living Translation)

The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.

NIV (New International Version)

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.

Ask Yourself

Walk it Out

Reflect

  • Contemplate on Psalm 34:17-19.
  • Meditate on how you can embody God’s presence and support in the lives of others.
  • Consider what it means to be near to the brokenhearted and to rescue those whose spirits are crushed.

Engage

  • Reach out to someone in your community or church who might be facing mental health struggles.
  • Offer them your genuine support and be there to listen without judgment.

Pray

  1. Pray for individuals who are currently battling with mental health challenges.
  2. Pray for our communities and churches to be compassionate and supportive environments.
  3. Pray for transformation within ourselves to become advocates for mental health and reflect God’s love and care.
