Today, we start a new series as we seek to gain a better understanding of worship. Worship is more than just singing on Sunday mornings, and the way we worship forms us and shapes us. If we want to be more like Jesus, we need to understand not only why we worship, but how we worship.

Today, we explore a term that many of you may not be familiar with. Liturgies are the things we do over and over that form us into a certain type of person. Why do we sing in church? And how does singing form us into the type of people that live like Jesus? Today, we find the answers as we explore what the Bible teaches about worship.

Sermon Notes:

Why is singing songs in church important?

  • Colossians 3:16 NASB2020
  • 1 Corinthians 14:6-7 NASB2020

What makes a worship song biblical and beneficial for congregational worship? How do the Psalms guide us in our singing?

  • Psalm 96:1-12 NIV
  • Psalm 38:1-22 NIV

What Purpose Do Our Bodies Serve? The songs that we sing form us into a type of people If we engage our bodies in worship, then it will forms us into a type of people and teaches us what our bodies are for.
