This is a question and answer message. --The video began recording before I was ready, and I also told a few corny jokes along the way. I also made a few mistakes in the presentation, but in the transcription, I have corrected those as well as documented what I stated.--The first question was not related to -Scandalous Texts,- but had to do with women elders, something my denomination permits, but something about which I have reservations in light of the structure of the family.--However, as we look at Scripture, we see that Deborah was both a prophet and a ruler -Judges 4-4-6-, in effect, she is both a -teaching elder- and a -ruling elder- to speak in terms of Presbyterian polity.--Throughout Biblical and Church History, we discover God sometimes raised up godly women when men failed to do their duty. This was situation in the book of Judges. Both Deborah and Huldah operated under the covering of their husbands -Judges 4-4- 2 Kings 22-14- 2 Chronicles 34-22-.--After dealing we that, we had questions related to Old Testament civil law, slavery, and the standards for officers.
