She Can Make - Episode 4 Show Notes Welcome to She Can Make - A podcast making Canadian content, one stitch at a time. This is Episode 4. We’re your hosts, Kate and Lindsey. Today’s segments include:

  • In the Workroom
  • Alterations
  • Skills Lab
  • A Review or Two
  • Crafting with Kids
  • Event Spotlight
  • And from the Mail Bag

Thank you so much for joining us! We’re celebrating our 500th download this week. We’ve actually hit 575 as of recording. Thank you so much for being an amazing and supportive community. We’re going to get a knit-a-long in the works for you starting next week, so keep your ears perked!

In the Workroom:

Lindsey is rediscovering the joys of Fall Fairs. She’s finding inspiration in all the home crafting categories, and plans to participate in future fairs.

Kate is continuing work on her Jayla shawl while helping her friends get ready to move and preparing for cycling in the Kawartha Classic.

Kate had the pleasure of speaking with Tamy Gore (Jayla shawl) on instagram this week, she has given us a 20% discount on the pattern from today through to Sunday, August 27th, using the promo code: SHECANMAKE

Alterations:

Lindsey has had a kitten disaster with her produce bag. It has been chewed into shreds… literally! She is trying again and running into more problems, maybe this will get shelved until she gets more appropriate yarn.

Kate has been off on vacation last week. She planned a giant knitting festival, but friends needed some help getting ready for a big move, and it was 7 days of non-stop packing and organizing.

By the end of the week she was able to make some interesting changes to her Jayla shawl in an attempt to use up the yarn set aside for it.

Skills Lab:

Lindsey discusses the iOS fashion drawing app Pret-a-Template. She’s explaining how it works, what’s great about it, and whether it is worth the high price tag for a hobby crafter.

A Review or Two:

Kate is reviewing her first Craftsy class, Drafting from Woollen to Worsted with Jacey Boggs Faulkner. It’s an intermediate level spinning class, costing around the $25 CAD. Kate discusses what’s included and the quality of the content. Kate also discusses how she feels about taking future Craftsy classes.

Crafting with Kids:

It’s a very exciting week with Miss O, perhaps the most exciting. She used her new Janome machine for the first time this week, and the result are amazing.

Event Spotlight:
