I was due to interview this week's guest on the panel at Brighton's Midweek Mingle back in March but the coronavirus came along and we all know what happened thereafter... SO, I asked her to talk to me on here instead because the foodie in me wanted to hear her story in full!

The lady in question is Lerato Umah-Shaylor, Founder of the Eastbourne-based foodie brand that is Lerato Foods - a company that she launched after returning to the UK from Nigeria in her early twenties, that is now comprised of a cookery school, supper clubs, a gourmet brownie business and a soon-to-be launched gourmet spice range too!

From her experiences launching a catering company in her late teens, how that led her to a career in TV and why she now feels comfortable managing her own PR; why her first event in London didn't quite go to plan, why she'll never shy away from her mistakes as a result and her advice for consoling unhappy customers as well; to how she struggles to manage the loneliness that comes with being your own boss and why she's learnt to surround herself with people that want to see her win... plus a heart to heart on the topic of 'luck' in business and why I personally feel like hard work is normally to blame (!)... I'm so grateful that we ended up chatting on here instead of the panel because as you're about to hear, we covered a whole lot! This is Lerato's story to date...

The She can. She did. podcast is hosted by Fiona Grayson (that's me, hello!) and this bonus series is sponsored by Tide Business Current Accounts who happen to be the only place in the UK where you can register a limited company and open a business account in one process, for free! Essentially, for those of you that want to set up as a Limited Company or switch from being a sole trader to a Limited Company like I did, all you do is search the company name you would like, enter your personal and business details and in a matter of minutes, your limited company application will be sent, your Tide business current account will be set up, and you're good to go!
