The human body is one of the most mindblowing organisms in the known universe. Scripture likens the body of Christ – that is the church – to this same body, with every part having a significant role to play. But sometimes the church body just doesn’t seem to work like the well-oiled machine is has the potential to be. Did Paul make a poor choice of metaphors in his letter to the Corinthians? Or is there a level of intricacy and efficacy that we see in the human body, that we’re just not reaching as a body of believers? How can we ensure that together, as the body of Christ, we reach the potential we have as a community to be the vehicle for the Gospel of Jesus that I believe we were always intended to be?
