Today on the podcast, we sat down with Lisa & Jimmy Smith - owners of BlackSmith JiuJitsu in Niceville, Florida. BlackSmith Jiu Jitsu was founded in 2017 by Jimmy & Lisa Smith although the actual journey began in 1995. Professor Jimmy Smith has trained in multiple arts throughout the years that included Boxing, Judo, Free Style Grappling, and Wrestling, but he landed in the gentle art of Jiu Jitsu 29 years ago. After training 4-6 times a week for years and seeing how much he loved it, his family started getting interested and wanted to try out jiu jitsu as well. One class was all it took and they were all hooked. They have now been training together as a family for almost 10 years and are so grateful to be doing what they love. They started BlackSmith Jiu Jitsu in Ridgecrest, California and relocated to the beautiful Emerald Coast in Niceville, Florida in 2019! Their mission began with just a handful of practitioners and quickly grew to over 350 students. They are so excited to be growing every week in Niceville! Being a family oriented environment empowers BlackSmith Jiu Jitsu to offer classes for all ages at all different levels of Jiu Jitsu. As they are constantly progressing and growing together as a community, they strive to build up one another individually and as a team.
