Sotheara Lim is a 2nd generation Khmer American of Khmer, Teochew, and Vietnamese ancestry. He founded Khmer Renaissance during the height of the pandemic and has grown the community to over 10,000 followers in a year. At its core, Khmer Renaissance looks to provide visibility and validation for the Khmer experience by highlighting Khmer creativity, thought leadership, culture, and collective resilience. While in the past, the Khmer identity has been one of constant silence and invisibility, Sotheara looks to go against that by bringing to light the very nuanced and unique experience of all Khmer people from around the world. Khmer Renaissance is an embodiment of the current mental state of the Khmer people; reclamation of the collective Khmer identity and voice. Keeping walking, Koun Khmer.
