Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. One that I come back to again and again, and like to think everyone who hears 'Something Big' ends up thinking 'they wrote this one just for me.' Bacharach and David wrote the song for Mark Lindsay, who did a beautiful version in 1971. The original made it out in 1973 and that's the one that found its way to my iPod.
