One of the most self-destructive things I've ever done to myself was to embrace the "WHATEVER..." attitude. Hating the thought of being weak and vulnerable, I chose to protect myself from the rejection, jealousy, abuse, and ridicule of others. When shyness no longer sufficed, "WHATEVER" became my mantra, until I found a reason to want to LOVE again.
