The muse strikes artists in many ways. For John Kelley in Kansas City, his muse guides him to the beauty found in death and the rituals surreounding. He sees the touching humanity involved with the respect paid to those who have passed. And he can find a playful quality within the macabre. His paintings, drawings, multimedia works, and antique/junque store discoveries create a tapestry of dark art in Booth 1313 at Metcalf Antiques in the Kansas City area. Mark talks with him about art, death, creativity, working in theatre, and how a booth in an antique mall sells more art than at gallery exhibitions.
John's house isn't there, but he definitely has an address on Sideways Boulevard.
