The Silver Stumps cricket podcast is aimed at cricketers aged 60+ and is co-hosted by veteran county cricketers Grant Timms and Trevor Lee.
In this, episode 2, we talk to England captain Richard Merriman who shares great insights into the preparation and planning for the England Over 60s cricket team ahead of the Over 60s cricket World Cup which starts in Chennai in India on Monday, February 19th.
This is a fascinating insight from the captain’s point of view as Richard shares with us all the things that need to be taken into account as he and his fellow cricketers prepare what they hope will be a very successful tournament.
There is discussion around the 18 man squad given that the team will be playing four matches in the first five days of the tournament, with only three of them having previously experienced playing cricket in India.
Richard talks about the challenges ahead as well as the great opportunities for all those involved.

England have a warm up match against Madras Cricket Club at the 38,000 capacity Chepauk Stadium, home of the Chennai Super Kings, on Wednesday February 14th followed by a further warm up match v India on Friday 16th.

Tuesday Feb 20th v Zimbabwe
Thursday Feb 22nd v South Africa
Friday Feb 23rd v Rest of the World
Tuesday Feb 27th v Canada
Thursday Feb 29th v USA
