Today we spoke with Brett Bartholomew - Coach, Best-selling Author and Founder of 'Art of Coaching'. Brett is a keynote speaker, performance coach & consultant, and Founder of Art of Coaching. His experience includes working with members of Fortune 500 companies, the U.S. Special Forces, sporting organisations, and professional athletes. Brett is also a self-published, best-selling, author of 'Conscious Coaching: The Art & Science of Building Buy-in'. He has coached a diverse range of athletes from across 23 sports worldwide, at levels ranging from youth athletes to Olympians. He’s supported numerous Super Bowl and World Series Champions, along with several professional fighters. Today we start with the grooming ritual for this coach of coaches. Brett then unpacks interactions and interventions, and why multimodal communication is paramount for success in any endeavour. He digs into assessing communication and puts the question as to why people don't benchmark their capabilities in order to get better when public speaking. Brett shares his doctoral research which is focused on the role of power dynamics, persuasion, and optimising change management within organisations. Brett finishes with his mentors from the world of rap and hip hop, and what he has taken from their journeys. We highly recommend you check out his online courses Bought In, Valued, Blindspot, his brand builder workshop, and his top-class podcast. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Key Timestamps: 3. 02 - Functional in-authenticity 3. 44 - Being who we are 4. 44 - Not being polarised by the industry you are in 7. 58 - Misunderstanding of communication 9. 27 - Power dynamics of communication 16. 51 - How we present in different environments 21. 56 - What area of life is poor communication good 28. 46 - Why 'stay in your lane' is poor advice 32. 37 - Being social beings in a social setting 37. 25 - Communication as the crypto of the future 39. 47 - Having a mentor 42. 15 - Assessing someone professionally 43. 05 - What does HP mean to you. 44. 15 - Poor communication nearly cost Brett his life 46. 55 - What is most effective at points in time. 47. 37 - Not going to solve a complex issue with a complicated solution 48. 30 - Being adaptable and flexible as a way to HP
