In Episode 67 I'm chatting with the bold, beautiful & and pure badass Denise Lee who is the Founder of the athleisure brand, Alala. Alala’s mission is to bring joy to women through sophisticated, high quality clothing, but also seek to advance dialogue around body positivity and diversity. Recently Alala has undergone a major rebrand & in many ways it is reflective of the journey Denise has gone through.

At just 18 years old Denise left Singapore & moved to New York to pursue her dreams. Her early career started off working for retail legend, Chris Burch to eventually starting a SELF-FUNDED multi-million dollar brand.

As I chatted with Denise I learned that having a voice & being the face of a brand has come with its challenges. Growing up in Asian culture it was uncomfortable for her to have a voice & put herself out there. What made it more difficult was that when athleisure brands were on the rise, Denise looked around & saw that most of the other women in the space did not look like her. With that came major imposter syndrome which we dive into and how she has overcome that.

We also chat about all things business related like how she started her brand from the ground up with no venture capital, how to stay relevant in an over-saturated market, and some of the fears young entrepreneurs have surrounding money.

This was such an informative & empowering episode to listen to so be sure to tune in!
