Ireland's archaic licensing laws date from the 1930's. Despite a wealth of local talent, our nightlife scene lags way behind our European counterparts. But could things be set to turn around in one Irish city? Limerick city, in Ireland's mid-west, is set to become the first in the country to appoint a Night Mayor. Already a "petri dish" of talent, could the addition of political support take the Treaty City to the top tier of European nightlife? Double Take radio show attempts to find out. First broadcast on Limerick City Community Radio, this programme was made with special thanks to local musical talents Aoife Nic Canna, Maedbh O'Connor and Paddy Mulcahy, in addition to independent councillor Elisa O'Donovan. Support the campaign to CHANGE IRELAND'S LICENSING LAWS at https://www.giveusthenight.com/. Contact your local TD NOW to ask them to take action. Find them at https://www.whoismytd.com/.
