On March 24, 1998 a family member of Stacey's contacted the Columbus Police Department as they had not been able to contact Stacey for a couple of day's and she had not reported to work. Her apartment was found to be unlocked with no evidence of a burglary or theft. Neighbors reported to the police that on the evening of March 22, 1998 they were awakened by a female scream and loud banging. On November 27, 2004 a hunter looking for a lost dog in a wood line near the Scioto River on State Route 257 North in Delaware County, Ohio discovered human remains, the remains were identified as Stacey Colbert. Anyone with information can contact the Delaware County Sheriff's Office at 740-833-2800.
