On our weekly roundtable: tensions between North Korea and the United States are at an all-time high with Trump sending an armada to the waters off the Korean Peninsula and both sides threatening carry out a pre-emptive strike. China, meanwhile, is trying to calm the waters, joining South Korea and Japan in requesting that the U.S. work to resolve the crisis by peaceful means. Some are wondering if Trump's recent military strike against a Syrian government military facility and the dropping of the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used in a military operation in Afghanistan is part of the emerging Trump doctrine, sending messages to North Korea, Russia, Iran and indeed the world: do what Trump wants, or face the might of the U.S. military. What is going on with US-China relations given Trump's public effort to shift his bromance from Putin to China's President Xi? Meanwhile, Russia, Syria and Iran are demanding no further military strikes on Syria by the U.S., and Russia is insisting on a United Nations investigation into the perpetrator of the chemical attack in Syria. Meanwhile, Assad continues to defend his government, saying that videos of dead children as a result of a chemical attack are fake. In the United Nations, the Trump administration is stepping up its crackdown on immigration, creating an army of at least 15,000 including ICE agents and those patrolling the border, as Jeff Sessions travelled to the U.S.-Mexico border to further threaten immigrants. How are movements for change responding these latest moves? Our panelists are Jackie Goldberg, Laura Carlsen and Jackie Goldberg.
