On September 25th, 2013, Image Comics released the first issue of Sex Criminals by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky. The series would go on to win several awards and, despite its raunchy and bizarre premise, would gain a massive audience. In this episode, Ryan explores how Fraction and Zdarsky talk about identity, sexuality, and empathy, and how this unusual comic garnered such a devoted audience.

DISCLAIMER: Some Story is a show made to entertain more than to educate. We do not formally cite sources, nor do we claim to be experts on any subject covered in an episode. We are, however, culture and history enthusiasts, looking to broaden our own knowledge of subjects that we’re passionate about, as well as to bring these topics to a broader audience. If you want to explore more of Dr. Lisa Diamond's work, check out her "about-me" page here. If you want to check out the Ted Talk Gaia Steinberg gave on asexuality and relationships, check that out here.
