S4:E4 - Merideth Hite Estevez on Guiding 'Tortured Artists' into 'Artists for Joy'
Manage episode 345092421 series 1936713
Merideth Hite Estevez is a professional oboist, life coach, podcast host, and guide on "The Artist’s Way." She leads both group and individual coaching sessions helping lead people back to their creative spirits. She created "Artists for Joy" as a space for creatives to reconnect with the joy that made them want to be an artist in the first place. As you heard in Season 4: Episode 3 (S4:E3), I have struggled to stay consistent with some (most!) aspects of "The Artist’s Way" — namely the morning pages and the artist dates. A bit of synchronicity led me to Merideth. In this episode, she shares why "The Artist’s Way is so important to her, why the "tortured artist" label doesn't have to be your reality, and how the creative life can be a sustainable one that is full of joy.
— How Meredith got started with "The Artist’s Way"
— Being a classical musician and former “tortured artist”
— Creating your own gigs and deadlines
— Fear, Procrastination, Creative Blocks, and Comfort Zones
— Shadow Artists
— Creative Rejection, Creative Impulse, and Creative Blocks
— Honoring motherhood
— Virtue traps with creative work
— Rest and Time vs. Energy
— Crazymakers
— Why we do morning pages and the secret behind artist dates
— Visualization exercise using the theme of "frustration"
