On today’s very special episode of Songmess we are joined by Alaia D’Alessandro from Seattle-based punk band Tres Leches. The singer-songwriter and guitarist joined us while on a recent visit to Mexico City where she was working the cavalcade of KEXP live sessions, organized in partnership with NRMAL, that rocked the Mexican indie scene. Tres Leches is a three piece band consisting of Alaia, Zander Yates and Ulises Mariscal and together they create rollicking, artsy rock, perfect for pondering and thrashing. Our conversation with Alaia dives into the band’s history, how they all met and their rise within Seattle’s vibrant music scene. We’re also discussing POC visibility in the Pacific Northwest, Festival NRMAL, and getting into the work of iconic radio station KEXP.
